My Malfoy Predicament [Oct. 25th, 2004|10:32 pm]
[Current Mood |listlesslistless]
[Current Music |Beauty & the Beast - Something There]

I'm starting to get really aggravated with Draco Malfoy. He constantly insists on eluding me; I just can't draw the damn prat the way I want to! In an attempt to make him look more delicate, he comes out with baby fat, looking 12 years old. In an attempt to make him look boyish, he comes out simply not looking like Draco. In an attempt to make him look more Slytheriny, he comes out looking like a smug, evil girl.

I've begun mastering his hair, for sure...slicked-back hair like Draco's is easy. But making little whisps of it fall down in his face is hard to do...if you don't draw it right, it looks like a patch of hair was randomly pasted to his scalp. So I'm getting better at that.

I got a bit of practice in at work yesterday.

Mind you, I do like this sketch a lot, simply because face profiles are hard for me, and this profile turned out really well. But it's too feminine for Draco, in my opinion. I tried to boy-ify it, but whatever I did took away from the Draco-ness. How do you draw a genuinely gorgeous boy with delicate, thin features, without making him look too much like a girl?? sherant has no problem, her Draco is perfect. I don't know how she does it. *sigh*

But yeah...the Draco sketch above is not quite Draco to me...more like Draco's twin sister dressed in schoolboy clothes. Rather like Prince Utena.

*...carefully pushes aside that plot bunny* o_____o

And just think, I haven't even tried to draw Harry yet. Oh my god, his hair is going to KILL me. x_____x

pretty Malfoy... I want to pet him and have him all to myself

I think it turned out really well - I can imagine that getting any character just right would be a challenge

Hee, thankies. :) I am glad with my progress with Draco...I'm just all frustrated cuz I feel like I've hit an artist's block, or something...o.o

You're right though, all characters are challenging in their own right. Duo was hard at first, but once I found a few good reference pics of his hair, I was well on my way. I still chibi-fy him too much, though. *sigh*

my theory is that malfoy does in fact look like and evil girl, only with that killer jaw line...that is a great jaw

...are you complimenting my Draco's jawline, or movie Draco's jawline, or whose? *sheepish grin*

I guess I want Draco to look like an evil girl, but still clearly a boy. At least I've got the adam's apple working in Draco's favor. Adding that helped immensely. *phew*

You found out about my weakness for collared shirts with one button undone and undone ties...didn't you, DIDNT YOU????!?!?!

Very lovely, although I don't think that's a very "*sigh*" face. Or at least, in my head, thats a more "Heh, I'm checking out Ron's ass to make him feel uncomfortable and it's working."

I blame you.
